The first time we saw our beautiful dog Toby was at an Animal Rescue Centre - his name was Oscar. He was leant against the bars of his run and was constantly barking, drawing our attention to him - he had practically no fur and he was skinny. What we do remember is his big longing eyes... longing for a loving home. We asked about his history as he was 6yrs old and was told he was rescued from Wales from a concrete cage. We decided there and then that we wanted to give 'Oscar' a home and decided to call him Toby. When we got him home and introduced him to the garden, he was scared of the grass. Time overcame his fear and he couldn't get enough of the garden, sunbathing as much as he could. Because of his tough youth, his legs were very slow which meant short walks. He was a very loving, laid-back boy - we would often find him curled up on our bed snoring and spreading out on the sofa just to be near us for cuddles. He loved life and we loved having him in ours. Towards the end of our beautiful boy's life, he had become very senile, getting stuck in corners - he couldn't get up out of his bed to do his business so we used to try and guess when he wanted to go and carry him outside - he then stopped eating and drinking - we tried to get him to take something but he was giving up. It was then we made the extremely painful decision as a family that it was only fair to let him bound up to the big golden gates and find his old friends and make new ones. We now have his ashes at home as we can't bear to part with him at the moment, although we know he is now at peace and happy where he is. We know this 1st christmas is going to be so hard without him. He has his own little doggy stocking that we hang up next to our daughter's every year. We miss you and love you so much Toby - RIP gorgeous boy and say a big WOOF to our little Biscuits. We will meet again little man. All our love boyzie boy...from your loving Family xxxxx

I found a penny today'
just lying on the ground
but it's not just a penny
this little coin I've found.
Found pennies come from heaven
thats what my Grandpa told me
he said Angels toss them down
oh how I loved that story.
He said when an Angel misses you
they toss a penny down
sometimes just to cheer you up
to make a smile out of your frown
so don't pass by that penny
when you're feeling blue
it may be a penny from heaven
that an Angel's tossed to you.xxx
On your angel day xx
We think about you always,
we talk about you still,
you have never been forgotten,
and you never will.
We hold you close within our hearts,
and there you will remain,
to walk with us throughout our lives
until we meet again.

I know what you're thinking. You think I'm dead. Because you cannot see me with your human eye, cannot feel me with your hands or hold me in your arms, you think I am gone forever.
You recall how I looked when I left this place, and you cannot remotely imagine that I could possibly be alive in another place. You are racked and torn by the pain of our separation and it blinds you to that which is right in front of you... me..............
I'm here to tell you different. You were worthy of my love and undying devotion on earth as I of yours. Do you really believe this love would be snatched from us forever by a loving Creator simply because I wasn't human? Was I not a living, breathing creation with personality? How could I have been so if I didn't possess the energy of soul, spirit and loving light? And if this energy is and always will be, then how can it be that I am dead?
.................
You say that all you have left are memories. Not so. You see, when I took leave of my earthly body I left a little something behind for you. You can't touch it, hold it or examine it for what I left behind is far too uninhibited for confinement. I left behind a piece of my soul. I placed it right next to your own which is quite fitting as we were always side by side in our earthly life together. I love you too much to have left you with nothing but memories, which tend to fade and grow cloudy as the years go by.
I love you too much to have vanished without a trace. How selfish it would be of me to remove love and light from your life.
.............
I understand your tears, each one you shed is testament to your love for me and I am honored and humbled. But don't forget the good things we shared - remember and smile. This is an honor for me as well. And when you need me I will be here. Close your eyes, relax, take slow, deep breaths and picture me in your mind. Shut off the world and your notions of what death is and give me a chance. Look for the subtle signs I send you. Don't stop being proud of me, I am a friend to be proud of, I am still your friend and soul mate.
Don't memorialize the death of my body but instead honor and celebrate my never-ending life for it is eternal and forever as is my love for you.
Until we meet again...

(Passage from UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN)
RIP Toby xxx
I Thought I Saw You Here Today
We were so very close, we two
but I had to let you go
I hope that you can understand
it was because I loved you so.
No more pain, no aching limbs
no earthly ties that bind
No dimming eyes, no sleepless nights
you've left them all behind
I lost you many months ago,
and gained a broken heart
Yet I feel you close to me
although we are apart
Sometimes when I'm all alone,
I feel you by my side,
As if to try and comfort me,
through all the nights I've cried
I thought I saw you here today,
out the corner of my eye,
Felt soft brown fur against my skin,
heard the faintest sigh.
So wait for me at Rainbow Bridge
Until we meet once more
then we will walk together again
through Heaven's open door...

A Tribute to your pet dog
When God had made the earth and sky
the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
the fish, the birds and bees.
And when at last He'd finished
not one was quite the same.
He said, "I'll walk this world of mine
and give each one a name."
And so He traveled far and wide
and everywhere He went,
a little creature followed Him
until it's strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
and in the sky and sea,
the little creature said,
"Dear Lord, there's not one left for me."
Kindly the Father said to him
"I've left you to the end
I've turned my own name back to front
and called you dog, My friend
